Sacristans

Contact: John Morehead

The sacristan arranges the books needed for the celebration, marking all of the divisions. He or she lays out the vestments and anything else needed for the celebration. The sacristan ensures that the things necessary for worship are always available. There should be a ready supply of fresh hosts and of duly authorized wine, sufficient clean purificators, corporals, hand towels, incense and coals.

READERS

Contact: John Connell

or Janna Gedda

In the procession to the altar, the reader may carry the Book of the Gospels and reads from the ambo the readings that precede the Gospel. The reader may also be asked to read parish announcements.

SERVERS

Contact: Anna Lilleboe anna.lilleboe@gmail.com

Open to boys/girls who have received 1st communion. The primary role of the altar server is to assist the priest in the celebration of the liturgy during Mass. This is done through specific actions and by setting an example to the congregation by active participation in the liturgy, by ‘looking alert’ and by sitting or standing at the appropriate times.
In addition, the role of an altar server is to light the candles on the altar, to carry them in procession and during the solemn singing of the Gospel; to prepare wine and water for the sacrifice of the Mass; and to assist the sacred ministers at the Mass and other public services of the Church.

Mass Volunteers

Contact: Dan Madden

Volunteers greet all who arrive for Mass and provide them with a worship aid provided for the occasion. Assist people in locating seats if there appears to be difficulty, especially after Mass begins. Volunteers pass collection baskets and bring the money forward to the altar. Volunteers assist at Communion to assure smooth movement of the assembly and assisting those needing special consideration. Finally, volunteers distribute weekly bulletins at the conclusion of Mass.  The worship area should be prepared for the next Mass.
